New Year, New Beginnings, New Stars
New Year, New GEM
We are very excited for the return of our Quarterly Newsletter and especially the Star Pediatrics Quarterly GEM. GEM awards recognize a nurse from each office branch who embodies the ‘Go the Extra Mile’ philosophy. GEM nurses are the epitome of true Star Pediatric nurses. These nurses have been chosen by their coworkers, supervisors, and office administrators. Character, professionalism, integrity, and respect are core values we expect our nurses to uphold each and every day. GEM nurses account for this and so much more.
Saddle Brook GEM: Kristine Javier RN
Our Saddle Brook office is excited to announce Kristine Javier, as this quarter’s GEM nurse! Kristine has been with Star for 2 years. “She works with a very challenging case and does it with a smile and willing attitude”, said Saddle Brook’s Director of Nursing, Rachel Palmer. When Kristine’s client is in the hospital, Kristine covers other cases without question and is well loved wherever she goes. Kristine is dedicated to her clients and will adjust her schedule to work longer hours whenever it is needed to ensure the safety of her patient. We want to thank Kristine for shining with us and congratulate her on her exemplary performance!
Howell/Lakewood GEM: Natalie Ospina LPN
Our Howell/Lakewood office has chosen Natalie Ospina as this quarter’s GEM. Natalie has been shining with us since May of 2019. Natalie’s coworkers added that Natalie “is extremely reliable, dedicated to her clients, warm and loving in providing excellent care to her patients”. We want to thank Natalie for her hard work and dedication to this agency but more importantly, thank you for providing such high quality care to the patients served over the years. Congratulations Natalie!
Mount Laurel GEM: Uyen Nguyen RN, BSN
The Mount Laurel branch is pleased to announce Uyen Nguyen as this quarter’s GEM. Uyen has been employed with us for three years and counting. “Her caring and dedicated way that she delivers patient care, reflects the true meaning of being a nurse and the mission of Star Pediatrics”, said Barbara Kenny, HR Director. Uyen has worked some of our most challenging cases and is always willing to lend a hand when needed. It’s a true honor and privilege to have Uyen a part of our Star Family.
Celebrating Milestones
We would like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank our nurses who are celebrating 10 continuous years of service. The gratitude and honor we feel in knowing so many of you personally and professionally is something we hold very dear to our hearts. We have watched you get married, have children , have grandchildren, graduate, further your education and endure so many other life events. In Loving Memory
We are sad to report the passing of a member of our Star family, Irvin Carr. Irvin joined our family in 2018 and had been a dedicated nurse throughout his time here. Many of his coworkers at Star loved working with him and described him as “a sweet man and a pleasure to work with”. Irvin’s famous line when greeting someone was “Blessed to be alive on this beautiful day”. We were blessed with the opportunity to know such a special soul like Irvin. May Irvin and his family find peace at this time.

Winter Weather Reminders
With the weather dropping in temperature, we want to share some safety reminders to practice during the winter season.
1. Try to stay indoors during extreme cold weather.
2. Give yourself extra time when traveling and be sure to clean off your car and drive more cautiously.
3. Pipes freeze! Keep your house at the appropriate temperature to prevent your pipes from freezing.
4. Time to bring the pets inside. Our fur babies can only withstand so much cold weather.
5. Check on the elderly, weather conditions make it harder for them to get household supplies and food.
6. Help prevent motor vehicle accidents by increasing your following distance, don’t use cruise control, and avoid quirky motions (be cautious).
